ALU VORTA RECIPE
Alu Vorta:
Alu Vorta is a very good Bengali complimentary dish with rice. It's a very popular dish among the Bengal people. It has many names (like- Alu Sedho, Alu Cokha....etc), but it's popular among them.
Alu Vorta is basically a side dish and gives a very good complement to the rice. Alu means the potato and Vorta means mash, which is the Bengali version of mashed potato. The main ingredient of this dish is potato. So, let's see how to make this.

Alu Vorta is a very good Bengali complimentary dish with rice. It's a very popular dish among the Bengal people. It has many names (like- Alu Sedho, Alu Cokha....etc), but it's popular among them.
Alu Vorta is basically a side dish and gives a very good complement to the rice. Alu means the potato and Vorta means mash, which is the Bengali version of mashed potato. The main ingredient of this dish is potato. So, let's see how to make this.
Ingredients:
- Potato (2 medium sizes)
- Onion (1 medium size)
- Garlic (2 to 3 cloves)
- Red Chili (2 to 3 piece as your preference)
- Cumin Seeds (1 tablespoon)
- Master Oil (3 tablespoons)
- Salt
- First of all, take a bowl and boil the potatoes.
- After potatoes being boiled, you have to remove the potatoes from the hot water and keep it in the other pot.
- Now take an onion and chop it into the fine slices.
- Now take a pan and keep in into the oven or stove. After heathen up the pan give 3 tablespoons of master oil into the pan.
- You have to heat the oil properly.
- Now you have to roast the Cumin Seeds for 30secs in the hot oil. After being roast you have to take the cumin seeds from the pan and keep it into a separate dish.
- Now you have to fry the red chili for about 30secs and then take it from the pan and put it into the dish.
- Now give the onion slices and garlic cloves into the pan.
- Fry the onion and garlic till it gets brown in color.
- After being fried, take them into the dice from the pan.
- Now take a bowl and mashed the potato properly. After, take all the spices into the bowl.
- Now you have to mix properly all the ingredients (boil potato, fried onion and garlic, roast cumin seeds, fried red chilis) into the bowl.
- Now add 1 tablespoon of master oil and salt ( as your test).
- Mix them properly.
- After being mix properly shape the mashed potato like a spherical or ball shape.
- Your Alu Vorta or Bengali style mashed potato is now ready to serve.
